A passing policeman found a little child,\\
He walked beside her, dried her tears and smiled,\\
Says he to her kindly, "You must not cry,\\
I'll find your mother for you by and by."\\

At the station, he asked her for her name,\\
And she answered "Jenny" which caused him to exclaim:\\
At last of your mother I now have found a trace,\\
Your features bring a vision back of her sweet face.\\

When she left home, deserted me, and took my child away.\\

By the anxious mother. "Where is my child?" she cried.\\
