In a cosy little cottage lived a young and happy pair,
And a blue eyed baby crowned their blissfiul life,
He labored for his loved ones and the world seemed bright and fair,
Unto him she'd always been a faithful wife,
One day she found a letter, it was signed “Your loving May,”

The husband home returning finds his cottage in a gloom,
There's no loving wife to greet him at the door,
A torn and crumpled letter with a note that reads “good bye”
there he finds with baby's playthings on the floor,
Both face to face that evening there within her mother's home,
She tells him why away from him with baby she has flown,
He answers “Dear, that letter was from my lost sister May,”
Then she whispered “Jack, forgive me for the words I wrote today.”
